ACCESS STATEMENT

At the Damson Dene Hotel, we aim to ensure that all of our guests have comfortable facilities and are made to feel welcome. We have developed this access statement to address some of the more common issues that disabled people face.

The access statement is intended to provide additional information for all guests who wish to attend the hotel or use its facilities.

HISTORY

The Damson Dene Hotel is independently owned and is part of three establishments within the South Lakes Group. It has 40 en suite bedrooms with restaurant, bar and leisure club. The bedrooms are situated on three floors within the hotel and a separate annexe of three bedrooms.

Pre Arrival

You can contact us via telephone, email, fax and post.

The nearest bus station is situated 20 minutes from the Hotel on Blackhall Road, Kendal.

The nearest train station is Oxenholme The Lake District, which is approximately 20 minutes from the hotel.

There are many local taxi firms, which we can provide you with details of or book on your behalf if travelling from abroad.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

 There is a private Car Park located next to the Hotel free of charge to guests

We do ask that customers park sensibly allowing other cars to pass.

The car park surface is tarmac.

There is a slope from the lower car park.

The main entrance has a slight slope.

We offer assistance with luggage on request.

Main Entrance and Reception

The Main Entrance leads to Reception, Bar, Restaurant.

There are steps down to the Bar and Restaurant and a ramp can be provided. The area is carpeted  throughout.

Public Areas

Our corridors are well lit and carpeted.

The Bar is carpeted throughout.

The Restaurant is carpeted throughout.

There is one door leading to the Restaurant with two fire exits.

There is one door leading into the Bar area.

There are toilets situated on the Ground Floor with one entry door.

The fire alarm system is bells and does not have flashing lights. Assistance will be given in the event of an evacuation.

Full Waiter service provided in the restaurant and on request in the Bar

Well lit and airy Restaurant, Bar and Lounge Areas.

The lounge is made up of armed chairs, sofas and small coffee tables

Bedrooms

All bedrooms are either on the ground floor or accessible by stairs

All rooms have showers, some have bath with shower over.

All rooms have non slip bath mats in bathrooms.

Additional Notes

As a 3 Star AA Quality Standard Hotel, we are committed to providing a high level of customer service. Whilst the physical limitations of the existing building may impose some constraints on what we are able to do, we fully intend to comply with current regulations and good practice. We have tried to make all the hotel as wheelchair accessible as possible.

The nature of the building means it is impossible to allow wheelchair access without the use of stairs.

The Damson Dene Hotel aims to ensure that all employees, guests and others are treated equally and according to their needs. Staff training in Disability Awareness is part of the staff development programme, in compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

We would like to request that anyone with special needs or disabilities contact us prior to arrival in order that we may assist them if they have any specific requirements.
